Met Up with keonimanua

and man was his beard scruffy.

Keonimanua and I had a really good time, we didn't uke too much however. The weather on that particular day wasn't exactly favorable to that of Koa. His wife's super soprano is sick. I wish I had a chance to grab the uke and run. :P The koa grain is beautiful and the sound it makes.... heavenly. But alast, I have no money nor a real job so I cannot afford to squander on such treasures...

So after about an hour of ukin' and sippin' coffee, we made our way down to Ukulele Republic, home of Sailor Jim, ukulele connoisseur and distributor. There, we had our first experience with Kala's travel uke. We dare say it is LOUD! We will all lose our hearing much younger than previously intended. The solid spruce top really makes the tone ring and the size of the tenor is so much thinner! If I had an obstruction on my chest, this would take care of that. If you didn't catch that; if you have big boobs, it shouldn't be a problem to reach around this instrument. :P Or a big tummy... like Keonimanua.

Mike, sailor jim, had a wide variety that day. I remember seeing a Mainland red cedar pineapple, a reggae kala, some kala acacias, a mokai soprano, a couple zebra wood soprano and concert (maybe a tenor, Ohana Make), and most importantly a super soprano Loprinzi made of solid cherry. That uke was sweet. Fresh off the press and with aquilas, which makes it sound... blech. Wouldn't mind changing up the strings with that one. Fluorocarbons all the way for something small like that. It's beautiful I must say. Unfortunately I lack the funds to purchase the uke. After all, I like to eat food. Let's see, what else was there? your standard makala dolphins. He also had a vineyard soprano, it was good. For the price though, I've got to say it's a killer deal. Sounds very nice. Of course, it isn't koa, but wouldn't $300 difference in price change your mind? Um, yeah, there were some other nice ukuleles too but I sure as heck can't remember all of them.

Afterwards, Keonimanua and I went to eat at this little place called the Irish Pub. If you watch the food network, Alton Brown once filmed a show there. We soon found out why. The food? Marvelous! 4.5 stars I would say. When I envision pubs, I envision grease and fries. This place had better food than your typical chain restaurants. The prices are better too. 10 Bucks for delicious beef and sausage, and casserole, and the german potato salad!!! I SWEAR THAT IT WAS THE BEST POTATO I'VE EVER HAD. If you are in the Atlanta area, I would suggest this place who heartedly.

I'll shut up now. Over all, it was a good day for uke and food.
